How can sniffing reduce separation anxiety?

Sniffing makes dogs feel good.

One eighth of a dog's brain is dedicated to smell, they see the world through their nose! So, it's exceptionally mentally stimulating for them to spend time sniffing. In fact, 10 minutes of sniffing is the equivalent exertion of a 1 hour run.

Sniffing activates the part of your dog's brain that releases dopamine and seratonin and their frontal lobe. Using scent to forage for food gives them something to focus on and keeps them happy with their own company.
